Rippey requested funding through a competitive grant in 2018 to repurpose the old Rippey school building into a maintenance building and garage for the fire department. Grow Greene County awarded them $80,000 in a competitive grant and $12,258 through the municipalities allocation that went to the project. These funds along with many volunteer hours have made the building useful to the city.
